I interviewed Lorna Simpson, one of the most influential contemporary artists in America, for Guardian G2. We spoke about the challenges of being a black, female artist, one too often defined purely in terms of ‘identity politics’, in the role of art in Trump’s America, and her early formative years during New York’s AIDS epidemic. It was in the paper alongside a new poem by my GCSE companion Carol Ann Duffy. Read the piece here.
